What are you most afraid of upon entering uni?

Geology building, UWA

Orientation week of uni is usually the week where all first-years swarm like a bait ball of fish, (with uni being the potential predator of course) not knowing where to go or what to do but driven by instinct to huddle and get by. Okay, that was a pretty over-exaggerated analogy but tone it down a few notches and you'll get the picture.

One of the things we had done was sit in a circle with several other first-years and a student mentor to discuss a few things about what we're majoring in, what we want to learn from uni, what we expect from uni, yada yada yada.

But there was this one question that stuck to me the whole semester, and will quite possibly stick with me for my entire uni life, and that was:

"What are you most afraid of upon entering uni?"

It was a mundane question during a typical uni orientation session, but I found myself responding with an immediate answer that stirred my thoughts: "Not doing anything."

The thought that I have voiced sounded stupid, maybe a little senseless. But it seemed to be a plausible answer to the fear of underachieving. I’m always talking about big dreams and high hopes, but I always conclude with the fact that all I’ve done is quite literally nothing.

While others are straining to fit their achievements into two limited pages on their résumé, I’m struggling to put words into them.

It's a little late into the year but hey, this is where it'll start. I'm blogging, frequently creating content (hopefully). I'm finally starting something that I'm more than willing to commit to.

Just a few more shots of UWA:

Detailed buildings are my weakness (though this one's not massively detailed)

Typical shot of an arched pathway (sorry it's not symmetrical, I tried)

My favourite stress-free spot
